The Major sticker-sub drama continues: FUT exit leaves cmtry stuck between rosters

FUT's loss to Nemiga at PGL Bucharest means SunPayus may not reach five matches before Major invites, according to Ozzny. That could leave cmtry on FUT's Major roster and unable to play for Astralis.

FUT's elimination at PGL Bucharest has added another twist to the roster saga involving FUT, Astralis, cmtry and SunPayus. According to a post by CS2 personality Ozzny, FUT's loss to Nemiga means the team is out of the event, and that has knock-on effects for the upcoming Major.

This is Ozzny's reading of the rules, not an official ruling from Valve or the tournament operator.

What Ozzny says the loss means

In his post on X, Ozzny lays out the following chain of consequences:

  • SunPayus will not play five matches with FUT before the Major invitations are sent.
  • cmtry will therefore remain registered on FUT's roster for the Major.
  • SunPayus does not get a Major sticker, while cmtry would get a FUT sticker.
  • cmtry would not be allowed to play the Major with Astralis.
  • cmtry cannot play more matches with Astralis before the invitations are sent, or he would appear on two rosters at once. Ozzny says that would throw Astralis out of the Major.

How we got here

VetoTime reported earlier this week on the warning from VRS analyst Jesper "Udknud" Larsen and HLTV editor-in-chief Milan "Striker" Švejda: if FUT could not reach five matches with their new fifth player, cmtry could remain on FUT's ranked roster and create a problem for Astralis' Singapore Major invitation.

Udknud had pointed to FUT's run in Bucharest as the decisive factor. A deep run would have given SunPayus the matches needed; the defeat to Nemiga ends that possibility before invitations are sent, according to Ozzny.

Astralis have since brought back Jabbi at short notice for their Stake Ranked run in Barcelona, which gives them a fifth player while cmtry is unavailable.

What is still unclear

No official statement from Valve, the tournament operator, Astralis or FUT about cmtry's Major registration had been published in the sources VetoTime checked. Whether Astralis keep their invitation, and with which five players, depends on how the official invitation roster is determined. VetoTime will update this story when an official decision is published.
